For christmas my mom got me the first four seasons of “Hell’s Kitchen” and it is so great because I love Gordon Ramsay  and the show itself is epic and it is pretty funny seeing how much they swear. So my mom and I have started religiously watching them after school while we both paint my warhammer figures, we have watched 3 of the 4 seasons but season 1 has the best chefs. Now warhammer in itself is its own subject. Warhammer is a board game that is played with small figures that you have to build and paint yourself and the reason for all of this is because on February 3rd I am entering in a warhammer tournament called Godacon where I will compete against other people and their army’s. My army is the Skaven who are the back stabbing Rat-Men of the under empire.

A unit of Skaven Clan-rats.

Brains

Ok, so get this. I was walking home from school a couple of days ago, and I saw this guy hunched over in the middle of the road, his back turned to me, he appeared to be eating something. I quietly got closer untill I could see what he was doing and there right before my eyes I saw him gnawing on this bright green brain! I quickly pulled out my camera and photographed it before I ran home. Once I got there I quickly locked all the doors and windows, then I started to prepare because I knew that the zombie apocalypse was upon us.

Ha, just kidding, the zombie apocalypse hasn’t happened… yet, but isn’t this a neat brain! Really it’s jello that I made using a brain mold I got for christmas from a couple of friends and once I got it I couldn’t wait to try it out and last night I presented it to a few of our friends during my parents movie night and we all got a slice of the delicious brain.

During new-years week a few of our very close friends came to visit us on the rock and on their last night I prepared tiramisu for all of us to enjoy. Tiramisu is a very rich, creamy, and decadent Italian desert and it is a beautiful finisher for any meal. Tiramisu consists of 2 layers, a layer of espresso soaked ladyfingers (an Italian cookie) topped with a layer of mascarpone which is a creamy cheese. The only downside of this delicacy is the cost as mascarpone is about $15 per 2 cups and I tend to need a litre. The only downside is I didn’t quite have enough mascarpone so I had to substitute creamchese for it, and it was very hard to judge the flavour and unfortunately it was a too sweet but we fixed that by scraping off that layer.

This will make a 9 inch round dish

First start a fairly large pot of strong espresso and pour it into a long bowl (that is big enough to comfortably hold your lady fingers) and let cool. Then start on the filling, quickly beat about 1 liter of room temperature mascarpone with about 6 tsp of Appleton spiced rum and a few tablespoons of sugar (to taste) untill very smooth and set aside. Mix some Kraken rum in with the coffee. Then dip a ladyfinger in it for a few seconds but not any longer as this will cause it to fall apart (but do this as assembling), than taste it with some of the mascarpone mix and make sure the flavours balance nicely. Now for assembly!

STEP 1.make a layer of the lightly soaked ladyfingers…

STEP 2. spread 1/2 the mascarpone over it like so…

Then repeat steps 1 and 2 untill…

Ta Da!!!!!  Tiramisu. Dust with coco powder than chill for a few hours and enjoy!

Poker 'n' Tiramisu, the perfect combo!
